
Ms. Benedicta P T Samuels is a native of the British Virgin Islands and is the principal of the legal practice of Samuels Richardson & Co. In 1994 she earned a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Hons.) from the University of the West Indies. In 1996 she completed a Legal Education Certificate with the Norman Manley Law School, Jamaica. She completed a Master of Laws Degree (Legislative Drafting) through the University of the West Indies.
She was admitted to practice at the Bars of the British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Antigua, and St Kitts/Nevis. Her post-qualification achievements include certification in: E-Commerce Law and Regulation at IDLI, Italy, Securitisation and Credit Derivatives, India; and Negotiation and Mediation accredited by the University of Windsor, Canada. She has read programmes in anti-money laundering and compliance and in hedge funds administration.
Her professional associations include membership with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the International Bar Association and the British Virgin Islands Bar Association (of which she is a former First Vice President and a former Secretary).
In the British Virgin Islands, she has held the positions of Assistant Parliamentary Counsel in the Attorney General's Chambers and as Acting Registrar of Companies. She has sat on a number of Governmental and statutory boards and committees. She is a Notary Public and a Commissioner for Oaths. She is a former adjunct faculty member of both the University School of Continuing Studies (which is associated with the University of the West Indies) and the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College. Her areas of lecture included Constitutional law, company law (including the law of international business companies), the law of contract and the law of trusts.
